Persistent pain cannot be ‘fixed or cured’. It needs person-centred management to help people live better lives with it. Health care professionals realise the need to change how they work with people with persistent pain. Our “Skills not pills” team (See www.livewellwithpain.co.uk) offers a toolbox to improve confidence of primary care clinicians and their patients to self-manage chronic pain together with safer prescribing. However, we need to look beyond face-to-face and virtual engagement with the health service and explore new ways to deliver a comprehensive community-based pain, health and wellbeing management service, particularly for individuals who are resistant to engage and, therefore, remain isolated and forgotten. This discussion forum is open to all.
