The Future of Work post Covid-19: New leadership challenges - leading part-virtual, part-physical teams

12th November 2020
Talk/Webinar, Workshop, Interactive activity

About this event

The objective of this virtual workshop is to explore with organisations and specifically managers/leaders the challenges of leading teams post Covid-19 in part virtual, part-physical teams. There are many aspects of leading part-virtual, part-physical teams that need to be tackled as we move out of the COVID-19 pandemic into a “new normal” (while still facing challenges of new lock-down phases). Issues to be addressed include for example, how to onboard new team members, creating team identity and trust, and quite importantly, supporting well-being and inclusion. The context leaders operate in now is unique, characterised by high uncertainty and a working format that many feel unprepared for. This event will build on the successful series of the Future of Work is Now events that were carried out in June and July 2020, which were supported by a Strategic Priorities Fund. It will help deepen existing relationships with external organisations and build relationships with new ones for research and impact, especially (but not exclusively) in the South West to support the University’s Regional Engagement Strategy. Applied social science will be at the heart of this event. We will provide a brief overview of the evidence base from the latest social science research on the topic and actively involve the audience in this virtual workshop, creating a dynamic environment for exchange and ideas generation (e.g. using breakout rooms in Zoom and virtual whiteboards).
